Luxembourg has a modern, well-maintained system of highways and secondary roads. Road signs are clear and worded in French. Roads into and out of Luxembourg City can be very busy during the morning and evening rush hour, especially main roads to neighbouring countries. During winter, fog and ice can cause delays on smaller roads. Traffic fines can be applied on the spot so you should make sure you carry enough cash or credit cards to pay if needed. Parking can be a problem in Luxembourg city . There are Blue zones for which a parking vignette must be obtained and displayed on the dashboard. Other zones are divided by colour, with each colour representing a limited parking time. White zone parking is allowed for half an hour, orange a maximum of two hours, yellow three to five hours on the road and five to ten in a car park, green is a five hour maximum and purple is a ten hour maximum.
