Many visitors rent a car for a day or two on a beach holiday to the islands and are often surprised at the contrast between the resorts and the laidback towns which lay off the well trodden tourist trail. Driving style away from the main towns is usually relaxed, but expect some erratic driving from the locals and some pot holed, narrow and winding roads on many of the Islands. Also you may come across a combination which is quite unique to a number of Caribbean Islands- Left hand drive cars on left hand driving roads, which can make overtaking a challenge!
