Countries

The main reason for the development of DriverAbroad.com was the lack of a single resource providing all the driving advice and information you’ll need to plan a self drive trip Abroad.

Driving Advice for every country in the world

Worldwide Car Rental Info- Genuine rental companies around the world

Car Hire Rules around the world- where you can drive cars, drop off options etc

The information on these pages has therefore been gathered from a variety of sources. Please let me know if you believe anything to be incorrect via the ‘Contact me’ page . Also, if you have any updates, driving advice or contacts, I’ll be glad to add them to the site.

At present, I can’t say whether the local companies quoted are reliable or not. I will add any genuine recommendations sent from travellers in future though.

Rules on crossing international borders in your rental car and international one way drop offs also vary by car rental company. Some of the companies are not clear on these rules and they may change over time so the info below is what I believe to be correct at present.

I have decided to leave out information on minimum driving age by country as the car rental companies all have their own rules which are usually different to the actual law. I haven’t included any info on seat belts and drink driving. Assume you need to belt up and stay dry. (Even if you’re under the limit you’ll often find that any alcohol in your blood stream will invalidate your insurance).

Although I try and keep the information in the site updated as much as possible, in a rapidly moving world, situations can change daily. Therefore please use the site as an approximate guide, and in conjunction with other resources in order to form your view on driving conditions, roads, safety etc.
